The nearest apple store is 4 hours away so taking it in to the genius bar is not an option, and if possible I would like to avoid shipping it to them.ĭoes anyone have an idea on how to fix this? I looked up how to create a OSX 10.8 boot disc but it requires that you have access to your original osx 10.8 installation which I don't have anymore (wtf apple really? you make it necessary to boot into the OS on a certain machine in order to create a tool that would only really be necessary if you DONT have access to your original install.effing genius, apparently catch 22 has no meaning to them).

Now thanks to apple's genius decision to no longer include install DVD's with their laptops I officially have $3700 worth of cinder block on my desk. I deleted both the OSX partition and the bootcamp partition and formatted a new Macintosh HD, then using the recover partition I downloaded the OSX 10.8 install files (took 3 hours) but when it reboots and tries to run the installer, it says something about it not being able to install a recovery mode and that because of this it can't install OSX. This is an unfixable issue apparently, to make matters worse now I cannot even reinstall OSX.

but Mac OSX should not have been affected. anyone have a clue on how this happened? I have no issue with reformatting and reinstalling my bootcamp install. Please if anyone knows another way to rebuild the directory structure please let me know. I was going to try disk warrior 4.4 but it won't boot and on alsoft's website it says it is not compatible with the June 2012 MacBooks. the problem is it took out my time machine backups too so if I reformat I will lose EVERYTHING, all my data for the past 6 years or so, financial docs, school work, websites I was building, basically my entire life. I tried repairing the disks using disk utility from the recovery mode but it just tells me it can't repair them "invalid b-tree node size" and to reformat them. When this happened it took out two HFS+ partitions, one on my SSD (mac osx install) and another on my USB external HDD (time capsule). It took me several tries before I could boot back into windows and now after about 30 sec it BSOD's again. Ok so I was playing skyrim on my bootcamp install last night, about 4 hours in right before I was gonna go to bed I got a BSOD.
